What are the benefits and risks?
Psychotherapy often has both benefits and risks. Risks may include experiencing uncomfortable feelings, such as sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, frustration, loneliness and helplessness, because the process of psychotherapy often requires discussing the unpleasant aspects of your life. However, psychotherapy has been shown to have benefits for individuals who undertake it.
Therapy often leads to a significant reduction in feelings of distress, increased satisfaction in interpersonal relationships, greater personal awareness and insight, increased skills for managing stress and resolutions to specific problems. But, there are no guarantees about what will happen.
Psychotherapy requires a very active effort on your part. To be most successful, you will have to work on things we discuss outside of sessions.
What is Integrated Behavioral Health?
Integrated Behavioral Health is a model of delivering services among a spectrum of collaboration with teams. Teams typically consist of multiple disciplines such as primary care providers, mental health specialists, nutritionists/herbalists, pharmacists, community health workers, massage and/or physical therapists, chiropractics, pain specialists, etc. Fully integrated teams consist of disciplines sharing locations, record keeping, and have high communication. Mental Health providers that participate in Integrated Behavioral Health often have training in medical conditions and how emotional/physical well-being interrelate.
Can I get multiple services?
We can simultaneously treat your goals of changing your physical health with emotional health; however, We do not treat medical conditions with nutrition/herbs/supplements such as Diabetes without direction from your Registered Dietitian and/or Primary Care Provider.
